Until now I've always bought btc from an no kyc atm and then swapped it for Monero.
As this costs me roughly 10% extra, my question now is :
How safe is it, to buy bitcoin via an kyc exchange like binance, transfer them to a private cold wallet, and then swap the btc for monero?
As of my understanding it would be even safe enough to just buy monero at a kyc exchange and then use it, but still want to hear your thoughts.
Depending on what volume do you need per / week/ month/ year!
With personal accounts you have some limits...
Also depending what Country is the KYC done... There are big differences country to country ..

Valid point that I haven't thought of yet. Located in Central Europe, probably like a thousand per month.
1 thousand / month you do not need to worry !
as soon as you sent from kyc exchange to your own cold non kyc wallets , after XMR you will be good to go!
