When connecting to an exit node, to secure the safety of our traffic, we should always maintain HTTPS.
(The default had been HTTP.)

Not in the least -- we're supposed to be using HTTPS. All of our communication on the clearnet and the darknet is supposed to be (and is) encrypted at all times. Never use HTTP.
On the darknet that's a different matter. On the darknet your connection is already encrypted even if you see HTTP.
Especially on the clearnet, never use HTTP port 80. HTTPS port 443 for everything web-related.
