Please pardon my ignorance on the matter if I'm wrong, but I think what you're saying is that, yes, they're basically the same in that they'll keep using the same entry guard, but by changing VPN location it'll change the entry guard and thus make one harder to profile. I'll admit this kind of confused me, since I had thought that entry nodes were assigned randomly from the outset.

You got it right. Anytime I can help. Entry guards are the ones that fingerprint us --- they're the dangerous ones, not exit nodes. Other than mixing it up the benefit is to avoid the entry guard. Which usually gets attached to you for 2-3 months. You may end up with a benevolent one, you may end up with a malicious one. There's no practical way to ask. Frequently changing things up also helps tremendously in making it harder to create a steady profile and, like a said, the beauty of a bridge is that it mixes us in with hundreds of other look-alikes.
