I would bet money these days the feds have a backdoor through carriers to push whatever malware/Spyware OTA they use to track targeted individuals once they get a wiretap warrant.

SCOTUS pretty much said like 13+ years ago the feds are permitted to do what they gotta do to make the arrest, and once the feds have enough on a target for a wiretap warrant, malware/backdoors/zero-day exploits become fair game.

Of course, that's the kind of thing they don't wanna tell us they do, even though they actually do admit they've done it to only a handful of suspects under rather extreme circumstances on individuals who were highly wanted internationally, my point is they openly admit they can and have done it before.

Nothing would really stop them from doing it to a vendor.

The Google thing could be a mere formality to explain the screenshots without revealing the actual source.

Food for thought

On a side note, with all the recent technological advances, police budget increases, and triopoly of mega corporate cellular carriers in the US, I'd imagine it's actually easier than ever for them to get some sort of malware to infect the device of a targeted individual

In fact, I'd just assume the framework is already in place for it to silently open up a port to a remote connection & start taking pictures/transmitting phone data without the user even knowing, once Google/Apple have the wiretap paperwork.

Obviously you can disable photos from entering your iCloud. Common sense. There's lots of settings on iPhones to protect location, apps spying or collecting data, and so on.

play services provide firebase cloud messaging which allow for push notifications without the app being open however the downside is that each notification is logged even though they do not know the contents of the message LE can piece together who received messages at timepoint a, b and c and that is very good evidence in court. realistically if you have enough time and effort you can just factory reset your phone and setup with no internet or sim and use uad-ng or adb to uninstall/disable com.google.android.gms, com.android.vending and com.google.android.gsf though this is a very basic list and depending on your phone maker may have more tracking built in. anyways if you wanna see all the system apps in detail download canta, package name viewer and shizuku if you want to remove some. but your best bet is to buy a google pixel and install grapheneos if you want no services and anonymity

so basically the thing is they can see notifications... so what if one deactivates them? Like, declining the notification authorization to the app. Then google cant see anything and the only weak point is that LE could unlock via forensic the phone, or is it any other risk other than notifications? I hope you saved post in your main i really want an answer
