How much privacy does using anothers person wifi give in reality?

So let's say, you are a hacker, you have stable servers you use as C&C servers, you have domain names to make DNS tunnels and also some hacked infrastructure. You decide that using TOR is risky on your own network so what you do is you hack your neighbours wifi 50 yards away from you and start using bridged TOR to connect to your hacked infrastructure, ect... But here's the thing, you have already used TOR before on your own WiFi, you have logged into HackTheBox, you have logged to crackmes.one. One day police force find out your neigbour's IP and decide to make a background check on the neighbours around him, and oh! They found a guy 50 yards away with logs that tell he's into hacking, that tell he knows to use TOR, that he knows the risks of using his own IP and has decided to use VPNs in the past. Yall get my point. Is there any way to prevent this?

Personally I am not sure what threat model would make using your neighbour's WiFi a priority. Consider an alternative scenario where you are caught using your neighbours WiFi without permission through such means, unrelated to your other activites. This is unlikely but possible, just like your scenarios. In theory, everything equal, it slightly improves your security. But if it gets to the point of the police coming knocking wherever the traffic originated, it's not much benefit for the other risks it brings.

In the spirit of minimizing the number of concurrent crimes one commits, I would suggest not committing a crime on the first/second hop. Use public wifi or route your connection through more hardened hops. If you want to commit crimes for additional anonymity, do it properly by hacking routers/IoT devices on the other side of the world, not in your backyard. Or at very least try to setup a RPi or mini PC somewhere with power + WiFi or ethernet where you can indirectly socially engineer people to leave your shit plugged in and acting as a proxy over their internet, where you can to some extent know there aren't logs to be had.

depending on how dense your neighbor hood is, using a more powerful WiFi will give more range say 200-300 yards at max, the more people in your general vicinity the more people the police have to check.

although there is another problem, once the police traces your neighbor's IP, if they suspect another person is connected to it, they could try to see where the signal is coming from when you connect to it again.

moving around and using public wifi is a solution but it has its own problems. you have to sit around for several hours in some place, police can get camera footage,request recipes if they see you pay for something with your credit card, and use cellular tower data to see who was in that general area at the time and they could try to trace the route you take from your home and back using cameras, it has been done before

im not sure how well this could work but if you want to go really hardcore, maybe get a van and setup shop there, using a different hacked wifi every time far from your home

but if your willing to go that far, might as well move to another country where they cant catch your there, life is cheaper there as well probably lol
