I just want to know in detail how the old school USB malware used to spread and what actual malware does that?
Is it still active in today's geneation?

NSA / CIA has one that is used for "national security". Exactly how it works is unclear, my guess is that it uses hidden functions in UEFI / BIOS to break through. It's typically used as backdoor into online and offline hosts. When spread to offline computers the malware can't communicate and will instead become destructive and destroy files which will first be seen after months of incubation time.
The classic way was to abuse the auto start feature. This is now days blocked by modern operating systems.
Otherwise I'm not aware of advanced USB malware, but for sure Israel and other countries have developed such things.

If you want to just make regular malware then administer with a USB that's pretty easy and you can make one at home using a raspberry pi.
