Post offices don’t care what name is on a package, they just check the address. They don’t ask for ID until you try to take it out of the office. However, if you just register on their website and choose home delivery, they rarely check the name at all and if they do, you could either show them a fake one or a photoshopped one, delivery guys don’t really care since you’re already registered on the website.

The postman will typically know by name the individuals residing at an address. They may just return to sender if you use a random ID, and that's one of the better outcomes.

I don't know how it is everywhere and correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds more like a US thing. Not everyone orders frequently enough for postmen to know exactly who lives at a given address. People move, have roommates, partners, family members staying with them, and receive mail for all sorts of reasons. Usually they're just delivering the package and getting a signature to confirm it was received.
I've read the DNM Bible. I can see how using a different name might stand out if you're constantly getting mail and have the same postman who knows everyone at the address. But even then, I don't think it's necessarily a red flag. Multiple people can live at the same address, and it's not unusual for someone to receive mail there even if it's not a name the carrier sees regularly.
