You can also try SQL injection, but it's wordpress so it often has a lot of vulnerabilities and the boss already linked you with a wordpress vulnerability found like 2 days ago so check it out you're at an advantage. If it does not work try others too some are just unpatched and they stay there.
Well I won't walk you through, but I can give you some sources, listen cybersecurity is a very hard profession it constantly changes and it requires a lot of knowledge to even get started, but don't get scared by the whole damn thing and just push if you really want it you will get it that said take it slow, biggest myth is that a good hacker can hack a system in hours reality is that it takes a lot of time, trying unstable exploits, recon etc.
I would recommend that you check out HackTricks, Redteam notes, Kali Linux tools documentation, google search the issue and not even joking youtube you can find a lot of good guides there, and again take it slow try it out with a DVWA it's really cool you can watch a guide on it learn something then get back to your target.
