We watched a man with legal, holstered pistol murdered by the US government while trying to help a women these same US government agents pushed to the ground. No one will ever be held accountable, and his holstered, legal weapon will always be used as justification if any jurisdiction tries.

In Atlanta several years ago, a group of black men, inspired by the historic Black Panthers, began to legally carry weapons at protests in the exact same way white pro-government protestors carry weapons. The last I remember of the story, they were catching charges for anything the police could make up.

This is two instances out of many.

Everyone makes their own decisions, but everyone should make those decisions fully informed.

(I don't remember the specific event, but a gang of white hate-group affiliated persons attacked and began to beat a young black man with a stick or piece of lumber. He took the stick away from them and fought back. He was charged. They were not.)

I completely agree. I've used guns my entire life from the time I was a child on the farm. I've carried weapons in combat zones and on the street. I've carried weapons on jobs. I still carry concealed when warranted. That is one hell of a lot of responsibility. I hate that it is often a necessity. I would rather not have to do it.

If I die unarmed at a protest, so be it. I would choose that over the confusion and danger weapons can bring to that environment.

They were also vetted. That is what is missing in so many groups today. You weren't a part of the original Black Panther movement just by showing up. You had to earn that place.

The left is not prepared including many on this sub. The defense is more from civil unrest or vigilantes in your area. These days unless I’m going to or coming from work there’s a good chance I’ll have a firearm. We’ve had a string of carjackings and parking lot assaults/robberies on seniors. Wife and I aren’t spring chickens anymore.

We can open carry in most public places unless restricted locations even at protests. I only open carry on BLM land when shooting alone. I concealed carry to protect me and my wife not to be some sort of John McClane guy. As for organized resistance there is much more to it than firearms and ammo. There are a subset of militias, usually right wing that have that support. Most people don’t have the organization, comms, supply chain, supply stock, fuel and other things that would make an organized resistance. Ain’t gonna happen on the left.

ETA Firearms are a tool to kill or destroy things. They aren’t props or playthings with which to pose.

The law says "any weapon," without defining "weapon," which is even stupider.

This exact tHing is illegal in several states. It's considered a private militia, and outlawed, despite the very clear "a well-regulated militia" bit. Maybe it's another preamble that doesn't count.

Fear is usually the number one reason from what I'm gathering. And I get being in fear. But do we walk with courage or do we submit to their rule? So far Liberals are submitting. Noone wants violence. The fascist do. And what they are doing is very similar to narcissistic abuse/reactionary abuse.

Unless you are far right or a traitorous 3%er that threatens to overturn an election by force. The law is a fucking joke in this country.

The wealthy have bought and paid for our subservience for far less than I would have imagined possible.

Caution and judgement are not the same thing as fear, and I'm not relinquishing a right, I'm simply deciding when it would be sensible to exercise it. Still, I'm glad we're on the same side.

Hopefully no one here feels they need to prove anything to you, because they do not.
