I've been a little weary to use it much since the Aus feds "visited" a Session employee's home a year or two ago. Then Session's operations moved to Switzerland, I believe. I haven't kept up with Session lately, though, as I've moved on to higher-security chat/messenger apps. The security of Session is not the strongest compared to others. Also, it doesn't work with Tails anymore, using torify.

Does anyone know the current status of Session messaging service?

Its working as usual, at least for now.
Thanks. Ill def look into it. Have you ever heard of Zangi?
Thanks for info. XMPP etc is always ideal, but I've found I run into issues with others not knowing how to use it. Have you heard of Zangi? I was told it was created in response to the issues Session was having but I have not heard of anyone using it.
I've read good things about XMPP; though, I haven't used it yet. I haven't heard of Zangi, but I just looked it up. It looks to not be open source, right? If it's not, then I'd probably stay away from it.
zangi is not open source, i can't audit it, i won't use it(with ease and privacy concerns), i mostly use session for non private stuff or just messaging there using pgp basically, simplex is open source and distributed which is the base for privacy. if its not 90% my control its not different then google for me(im being a bit harsh here, trying to make a point, im not sadistic)
Yeah, I did some more digging. Thanks for the feedback!
Here I am always bitchin about people asking questions that have already been answered and there I go doing it myself xp.

Just so everyone knows, Zangi is probably a honeypot and I would not use this service.
Have you tried Delta? Looks a lot like WhatsApp without requiring a phone number
It's in the fdroid repository
