Hi, friends, I recently launched my local marketplace. However, where I live, the ecosystem is so lacking that I only get about 20 visitors a day. So, I'm selling it for those who need it.
Below are the features of my website:
- It's a script that doesn't require any JS at all.
- It's a unique structure that processes orders based on a JSON snapshot of the current state of a product at a specific point in time, preventing sellers from fraudulently updating or deleting items after an order has been placed.
- No user actions are sent directly to the wallet; they are processed in a backend queue.
- It follows a traditional escrow transaction model and is fully implemented for XMR. Anyone can add BTC, LTC, XMR, etc. by simply implementing an adapter.
- If an order is in a dispute, the staffs determine whether the buyer or seller wins.
- It also includes a referral policy. If you sign up with a referral code, the referrer receives half of the escrow fee.
- The market itself has a forum, enabling community-driven operation.
- It supports approximately 20 currencies.
- All essential dashboards for operation, including forums, permissions, orders, user reports, seller reports, user and seller status, categories, shipping addresses, product management, support tickets etc., are implemented.
- All input values are validated, and any errors are appropriately converted and processed in the UI.
- It's a concurrency-safe and idempotence-safe structure.
There's a lot more to explain, such as the scheduler and backend queue workers, but I'll skip it for now to avoid making this post too long.
Getting to the point, I found someone who needs my script.
It took about six months to develop.
I'd like to start at $5000, including about a year of updates and additional feature improvements.
What do you think is a reasonable price, and what's your rationale?

Im only allowing this post so people can express their opinions. But if someone cant even code their own market, they really shouldnt even be thinking about starting one. But to each their own. I would like to look over the code, but you probably wont let anyone see it, if youre trying to monetize it. Atleast post a link so we can see it in action.
Many of these projects can be found on Github as free software, you would need to show a live demo or share the code with a trusted tforum mod like Heinous and pass some basic verification checks on the codebase to be taken seriously.
You'd probably make more money offering a market hosting/partnership service but like the others said you should probably prove your claims somehow
That sounds like a very tricky business. You'll have this unknown person in total control of their market, they can change deposit addresses and steal funds whenever they see fit.
Yeah, not saying it's a good idea, but it's probably better than giving away an entire market codebase for a one time fee (assuming hes not capping)
