I have generated a ten character chosen prefix hidden service address. This was achieved with new software that blows other chosen prefix hidden service address generators such as mkp224o out of the water in terms of attempts per second. Dedicated attackers can easily generate ten character or even possibly eleven character prefixes with marginal effort and enough time and resources. The cost for this experiment was €111.
