Say for example that I have no choice but to use voice
communication to communicate with my partner. I would want as much
security as possible while still maintaining somewhat of a usable
environment. Any ideas?
For secure voice with a partner, skip
the phone entirely. Both of you use Signal with disappearing messages
enabled. If you need something more anonymous, use Session's voice calls
over TOR. They don't require phone numbers.
If you want real-time encryption without third-party apps, you can run a
Mumble server on a VPS paid with Monero. Both connect through TOR. Low
latency, encrypted, no logs.
For the absolute most paranoid setup: two radios, a one-time pad, and pre-arranged codes. No network to intercept.
I've helped people set up secure communication infrastructure before. If you need help building something custom, let me know.

Use signal, assuming you both have them installed on your devices.
Yes, thank you very much for this info.
But I would also like to correct myself. When I mentioned "voice
communication" I did not mean anything to do with phone. I am referring
to communication via pc apps like dc or telegram. I have never really
thought of using a mumble server but I will try it out. Thank you so
much!

use signal for somewhat decent opsec but overall you shouldn't even be using voice communication for anything
Glad it helped. For PC apps, skip
Discord and Telegram if you want real security. Both log metadata.
Mumble over TOR is the move. If you need help setting up the Mumble
server or configuring TOR for it, I can walk you through it. Just ask.
