how can my ISP know if im hosting onion services?

Hello,

Ive seen in quite a few places now that ISPs can block tor conections and not let you host services and websites.

Is this real?

And if it is, can they tell if hosting a service, or actually see the stuff im hosting?

If the site is hosted on the Tor network, and communication between users and the server is encrypted end-to-end within Tor. The ISP cannot decrypt this traffic. The ISP can detect that Tor is being used by observing traffic patterns such as connections to Tor entry nodes or bridges. However, they cannot determine what the Tor user is doing hosting a site or browsing however if you have say a high traffic site they would proababaly know your hosting something but not of the actual content and make sure theres no call backs to clearnet urls with the hosted content

Depends on your ISP. If your hosting is fully E2E encrypted they would have a much harder time decoding anything. They can probably detect that TOR is in fact being used via network analysis but if you take the right precautions, they aren't able to read anything.

you can activate a bridge or connect to a vpn before connecting to tor so the isp doesnt know u are using tor. they just know ur using a vpn

chloroform him, blind fold him and tie him up, get a voice changer then when he wakes up tell him you want password to his phone. When your done chloroform him again and leave him on the front lawn to wake up he'll never suspect its you.

It is important to understand that there is connection disclosure and data disclosure; they are different things.

1) It is possible to find out that you are on Tor

2) The server can be stopped and files can be extracted.

In the case of connection, non-public relays and port 443 should be used

In the case of data, cryptographic containers should be used.
