What happens with PGP encrypted messages when quantum computers become better in near future (10 years?)? I mean, there are currently quantum pcs that can decrypt encrypted content, so I wonder if the feds are now storing a bunch of data, waiting for the day when they read it all. What happens then? Massive arrests around the world.
What defenses we could use for that? I have no clue what we are supposed to do when this day comes. I guess there will be something that is not yet developed... idk, what do you think?

By the time old messages are decryptable by quantum computers they'll no longer be relevant. Sure some might but you can't bust people for something they might have written a long time ago. Say in 10 years they decrypt your shipping address from a vendor. You still got that shit 10 years later? No? Then you aren't getting busted for it.

Oi! Quantum algorithms are getting better but at a much slower rate then company want you to believe. Not all encryption is immediately nullified as quantum computer can only do certain algos including unfortunately some popular ones like rsa which is often used for pgp but still if the key size size is 4096 bit you are most likely safe as it would still take several hundred years with a quantum computer. Also many not only pgp but other technologies are switching to existing quantum-resistant algorithms for encryption. Look into these and use them if you are concerned! Cheers!
