Thinking of trying to add a new name that receives name to my postal addess in the US. Hoping that after sending myself some first class mail my carrier will add the last name to the white card inside my mail box (i.e. the list of names that receive mail at this box currently).
I did a quick search on tforum and didn't see this. Just looking for a degree of separation/plausible deniability.
I'm in a situation where it's reasonable that someone could start receiving mail here without wanting it forwarded from their primary address, I don't want to give out specifics rn.
Would that work, or not worth the time?
Why not talk to your carrier and tell them that someone is moving in and will be getting mail there. Give them the name and they'll note it down. No need to sneak that information in. They don't give a fuck what mail they put in as long as they think it belongs.
this sounds like a misunderstanding of how the US Postal Service works and a huge lack of common sense. USPS delivers mail to every domicile in America. if there's a proper address, the mail will get sent to that mailbox. If you look up "mailbox" or "apartment mailbox" images on Google, most of them do not include names at all

Can a mail carrier note something as sus if there's a new name every week? sure, that assumes they'll make a mental note of every name for every domicile on their route for each shift. Can AI keep track since images are taken for Informed Delivery? absolutely, this is very valid
However, adding a single name to the mix? literally no one cares. there's 0 anything raising suspicion and the package will get delivered as they will deliver to the address. it could be a friend, roommate, spouse, partner, maybe mail addressed to Rob and Robert and Bob and Bobby.
think of the logistics: low budgets, long routes, unrealistic time expectations and as time goes on, packages only increase more and more as internet sales only get more popular. is your expectation that they have the time to properly look at every package or that they throw your packages across the room and into trucks as fast as possible to get going fast to meet said unrealistic time expectations?
Is the idea that they have a handbook of all names of all people in america for each address that they check against? if I move, does every landlord in america report the addresses of people for every person in america? no. if people move, do they report the address change to USPS all the time since day 1? a change-of-address form does exist to forward mail for 1-year but you can ask most people and they don't even know this is a free service offered by USPS
