Alright, so you live in the United States, and you did not sign for your package of shit you got off the DNMs. Maybe you weren't home, or maybe you saw the mailman knocking at your door wanting to talk to you, and you got spooked thinking it was a cop. Whatever the situation, you got this little paper slip left at your doorstep: "PS Form 3849"
First of all, if you're in this situation and you thought your mailman was a cop, fucking relax, lmao. There are infinitely many reasons USPS might require a signature, but perhaps the most common reason is that you bought something from another country that had some expensive-ass premium fast shipping. Your local USPS probably thought that whatever was in the package was extremely valuable, and they did not want to risk the package being stolen by some crackhead porch pirate.
The good news is that if you're a paranoid, anxious, OCD tweaker like I am, you don't need to go pick up the pack at your local post office, or risk a social interaction with a mailman if those things sketch you out. They will redeliver the pack requiring no in-person signature as long as you sign the form correctly.
Turn to the back side of your "PS Form 3849". Fill in the boxes next to: "Signature", "Printed Name", and "Delivery Address". I'm not sure what the proper format is for the "Delivery Address" box, but adding in addition to your address the name of your town, state, and zipcode does not cause any problems, so you may as well. Finally, under "Please redeliver on this date", write-in a date that is at least 2-3 business days away, allowing some time for them to accept and scan the form, and check the respective box for where at your house you want the package to be delivered.
Put your finished form back in the mailbox, and bring the red flag up as if you had outgoing mail. Same concept, but if your apartment/neighborhood has one of those communal metal "cluster box" mailboxes, simply put the slip in the same slot as you would put outgoing mail.
Wait a couple days and voilà! Your package should arrive without any problems, and without having to speak to any mailmen.

When you sign for a pack you are confirming that USPS did their job and it went from them to you. If you aren't there they leave the slip since they want to be able to get the responsibility off them on to you. and figure you'll go pick it up. They do offer the choice to sign the form instead relieving them from the responsibility of delivering it to you in person.
By doing it this way you are telling them that you take the responsibility for the pack being left where you stated and they are no liable after that. Some carriers may still try to get a signature but if you aren't home or don't answer the door they'll leave it right where you specify because they have the documentation stating it has passed from their care to yours under your direction.
