I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I used to live near a campus, and used to go into the library and access a computer and somehow be able to use Tor and GPA, and make orders from there. Mind you this was the time that SR1 was still active and BTC was only $40 a coin. It's funny to me though. Throughout the years, whether it was public libraries or campus Apple CPU's, I somehow used to be able to break through their safeguards and order like I was at home on my laptop.
Anyone else do this in the past, or even still to this day??

I don't even connect to tor on my personal machine on public networks. I connect to a vpn to my server and then connect to tor through that tunnel. Don't want to have my hostname flagged for tor on public open networks. Even for university campuses, when I was studying I had to log into the university network with my student ID, using tor on that network like that would be foolish in my opinion. Security cameras would also be a concern, you don't even know if they have some kind of capture system taking printscreens of what you're doing on that public computer, although I think that's more of a long shot. I wouldn't take those chances. Personal laptop, connect to vpn on private vps, connect to tor from there. When on my personal network I do connect to tor directly, I don't mind my ISP knowing I'm using tor.
If you ever decide to use Tor on public networks, make sure to change your hostname regularly. Same goes for your MAC-address.
But are we really safe even after using vpn or USB to connect to tor....that's the question we have to ask ourselves.
Yeah, I agree it was foolish as hell of me. I was young, & didn't have a laptop to use at those times, and clearly didn't get caught, but yeah, if you have to use a personal id to log in it would be an immediate no go, and if caught sure their be camera's, but this was happening at a time I had a laboratory in my room. So I was taking lots of huge risks at that stage in my life.
