I have just moved into a new place and I am having an issue with my roomates. They seem to know things that I do behind closed doors that they should not know. I am concerned that since I have connected to their wifi they have some way of watching me. It sounds incredibly paranoid but the guy in the room next door is talking about my gambling and a certain drug habit I have. I can't think of any other way that he would know these things. Is there any way that they could have access to my camera/microphone, and if they did how could I find it to show the landlord. I would prefer having proof, I know that I can just do a hard reset and use data on my phone but I would like to maybe find the program if possible. I have already run a malwarebites scan, as well as poked around my administrative tools/control panel. I don't really know what I am doing and could use some guidance.

I suspect there's more of something in the room. There's two methods I'd go about this -
1. Buy a bug detector on Amazon and scan the whole room/place
2. If you can get login access to the router - do that and look at any devices that seem suspicious and research. Even nmap those devices if necessary.
Thinking Occum's Razor - I'm very doubtful of a RAT on your phone. Think simpler.

Your roommates could have setup a DNS server such as a raspberry pi-hole that your router uses, which can show what domain names are being connected to, so they can see all the hits to "gambling.com" or "drug.com" etc etc that you go to. As MrBacon said. I would buy a bug detector off Amazon and also download a tool such as Nmap and do a scan of your network. I highly doubt your PC is actually infected.

Seen some bad cases of it.
But some form of device listening in on the network is more likely.
